"At Seventeen" is a song by American singer-songwriter Janis Ian from her seventh studio album Between the Lines. Columbia released it in July 1975 as the album's second single. Ian wrote the lyrics based on a The New York Times article with a samba instrumental, and Brooks Arthur produced the final version. A pop and soft rock ballad, the song is about a social outcast in high school.

"Shape of my Heart" by Sting on the Ten Summoner's Tales album.
This is what Sting said in his lyrics book:
"Dominic Miller, an extraordinary musician and a dear friend, has been my guitarist since 1990. One day a week, he'd come down to visit me at Lake House and we'd try out rough song ideas that either of us had had in the interim. During one of these visits, he turned up with a beautiful guitar riff. I was very taken by it, and he and I worked on shaping it into a song for the rest of the morning.
That afternoon, he asked me what I thought the song would be about. I said I didn't know, but I would take a walk and try to figure it out. I took off along the riverbank for a mile or so, through the woods and up to the sheep meadow, then headed back as the sun was dipping to the west.
When I got back, the whole song was written in my head.
Dominic now thinks that I find lyrics under a rock somewhere....

......this haunting new climate change song, released in aid of environmental causes worldwide on 17th Jan 2020, confronts deniers, holds world leaders accountable and calls for action now. The genesis of the song lies in the writer, Robert P Goodwin, being utterly horrified whilst seeing Californian wildfires out of control over a year ago. After searching in vain for a notable climate change protest song to promote climate change awareness, but finding that all have failed to reach the level of a true protest song, it was the ultimate spur to write a new and original tune for the hard hitting lyrics of today's new song 'Dangerously Changing' .

New lyrics to this hundred year old folks song with South African roots ("Wimoweh") make it suitable for performing at celebrations of wildlife in the mountains of Los Angeles, CA.
I've been performing this song for a few years at the annual Puma-22 Day Fest in Griffith Park. This year's fest is virtual, so I'm here to invite the mighty and diverse BandHub posse to help me make this a really big singalong. I've got about ten days to bust this out, so let's give it a go!

Our goal is to make an original interpretation, not a slavish copy. But their recording is pretty awesome and it's not a bad idea to listen and marvel at what they did before we take off in our own direction.

By the way, the expression "Wimoweh" was said to be Pete Seeger's misheard take on an older African expression that has no real meaning in any language. It's kind of like "Shoo bee doo" or "Doo wop".
